CBeebies apologise after sparking outrage by calling snowmen ‘snowpeople’
The children's television channel took to social media to apologise to fans after the use of a gender neutral term sparked debate
CBEEBIES have issued an apology to their fans on social media after they were criticised for using the word "snowpeople" over snowmen.
The comment was made in 20-year-old Caitie Munning's new show, Caities Amazing Machines, where she said: "Snow is amazing. You get to build snowpeople and go sledging."

It caused outraged among fans, with many complaining on social media.
One parent blasted: "I've heard it all now; CBeebies have started referring to snowmen as snow people and a woman has just been on the radio arguing that it's unacceptable that all snow people are white."
After the criticism continued, the channel were forced to issue a statement and said on Twitter: "Okay, okay, we get it. Snowmen aren’t snow people.
"We didn’t think it’d snowball like this. It’s snow joke. But that’s snow business... Soz."
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan was furious during this morning's episode of the ITV breakfast show and ranted: "You don't build snowpeople you see, you build 'snowmen'.
"For 10,000 years, we built 'snowmen'...
"We, part of mankind, build... snowmen.

He added: "Catie, you seem a lovely lady whoever you are, you're 20 years old and you present CBeebies, they're not 'snowpeople', they're 'snowmen'."
Fans of CBeebies were quick to jump back in to defend the channel after many angry viewers began to express their concerns, which one saying: "You know what, unless the kids are complaining then there's nothing to worry about. Keep it up CBeebies."
While another joked: "Apology not required. If you're offending @piersmorgan you know you're doing something right #snowflake. Keep up the good work x"
