Michael Parr made his last appearance as Ross Barton on Emmerdale last week
EMMERDALE star Michael Parr has revealed that he is auditioning for US TV shows and Netflix dramas after quitting the ITV soap.
The actor is hoping for success across the pond after spending five years playing mechanic Ross Barton in the 'Dales.
His onscreen character left the farm to seek a fresh start with his girlfriend, Rebecca last week - but Michael hasn't yet had the opportunity to watch his final scenes.
Speaking to, the actor shared: "I left the show seven weeks ago and not seen any of the last episodes yet as I was in Los Angeles and will have to watch them to see how they turned out."
Michael went on to explain that he hoped to be back in LA for pilot season in January, and that he is looking for an agent in the US.
He added: "I wouldn't want to become a regular on a soap in the US as I have just spent so long in one, but I'd like to play different characters in guest spots.
"The kind of roles I'm looking forward to are still the baddie but different kinds of storylines – maybe in an HBO boxset or a Netflix show.
"For me it's more than the part, I didn't get into acting for money or anything, I want to earn enough obviously, but it's about the art of it."
Despite being ready to move on, Michael admitted that he was "really sad" to bid Emmerdale farewell and cried during Ross' goodbye scenes with Moira and Pete.
He also called his decision to quit the soap "scary", continuing: "This is the first time since the age of 14 that I've not had a job, but it's also exciting."
Michael joined Emmerdale as Ross in 2013 and has been part of multiple dramatic storylines.
