ASHLEY James has blasted cruel trolls who mocked her “Northern upbringing”.
The vile bullies targeted the 31-year-old after she shared behind-the-scene pictures from a recent lingerie shoot.
Ashley grew up on a dairy farm in Newcastle with her mum, a hairdresser, and her dad, who works on motorways.
She told her fans online trolls had picked on her parents’ professions and blasted claims she’d had a “rags to riches” life.
Posting a lengthy statement online, the former Made In Chelsea star said: “To say I have a ‘Rags to Riches’ story and bringing up my parent’s profession in a negative way is incredibly rude and classist.
“I am proud of my northern roots, and my parents have worked two jobs for as long as I can remember to provide opportunities for my brother, sister, and I. My dad has quite literally saved lives during his time in the fire service and I am in awe of both of them for their achievements.
“Is a background of hard-work and good parenting considered rags? It is the strong work ethic my parents have instilled in me, my determination, and the brilliant platform of reality TV that have allowed me to achieve success in modelling, DJ’ing, and presenting.”
Ashley also used her statement to take aim at those who accused her of using men to climb the social ladder, just days after she was spotted getting close again with David Walliams.
She explained: “Insinuating that I have only achieved success from flaunting my boobs and dating famous men is inaccurate and offensive and I will not allow my hard work to be rewritten with a sexist narrative.
“I’m also disappointed to learn that a lot of this nastiness was actually written by a woman. For those of you who have messaged me and supported me and who see how hard I work, thank you. You’re amazing!
“I got to where I am and will continue to rise regardless of my relationship status because I am a boss b***h who works bloody hard. Remember your worth and never let anyone make you feel unimportant or less worthy than you are.
“It’s taken a long time, a lot of setbacks, and a lot of hardwork for me to become the confident, independent young woman I am, and I am not allowing false stories to silence me, belittle my background, or stop me from speaking my mind.”
Growing up, Ashley described her mum as her “role model” and said she was “proud of being working class”.
In a previous interview, Ashley’s dad revealed he worked multiple jobs to help support Ashley and her siblings.
He explained: “I left school at 15 to start milking cows on a farm.
“I had to work night and day to send Ashley and her siblings to school, but it was worth every penny.”
