Emmerdale spoilers: Jacob Gallagher’s feelings for Maya Stepney take a worrying turn as she celebrates her birthday

IT'S Maya Stepney’s birthday in Emmerdale next week and Jacob Gallagher’s feelings for his new step-mum are in danger of getting dangerously out of hand.
As the week kicks off Maya – played by Dales newcomer Louisa Clien - is left feeling underwhelmed when boyfriend David Metcalfe gives her some flowers that have clearly seen better days.
She’s even more annoyed when Jacob – teen star Joe Warren Plant - reveals to her that the reason David is late for her birthday meal is because he’s with his estranged wife Tracy.
Angry Maya confronts David and Tracy and Jacob also jumps to Maya’s defence, having a go at David for letting her down on her birthday.
It’s clear there is resentment for David brewing in Jacob.
The teen is later secretly pleased when David’s attempts to make it up to Maya fall flat.
And when he presents her with a thoughtful gift that delights her, Jacob is made up.
When Maya pours Jacob a glass of champagne to say thank you, does he badly misread the situation?
Jacob has been secretly harbouring feelings for Maya for weeks and even jumped to her defence when Noah Dingle got her into trouble with headmistress Jessie Grant for giving him a lift to school.

Maya was pleased and thanked Jacob for standing up for her, leaving Jacob confused about his feelings.
