Emmerdale’s Danny Miller thanks doctors as baby niece – born weighing just 1lb 5oz – is finally discharged from hospital after 100 day stay
The 27-year-old actor's niece was born 14 weeks early, but is now feeding on her own
DANNY Miller has hailed the NHS as ‘heroes’ for caring for his niece, Callie Lennon Miller, who was left ‘battling with life’ after she was born 14 weeks premature.
Little Callie was born after 26 weeks and weighed a ‘tiny’ 1lb 5oz.
But after 100 days in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in two hospitals, the little one has finally been released and taken home to be with his mother, Jessica Miller, and father Paul.
Danny, 27, who plays Aaron Dingle, shared a heartfelt post on his Instagram account to share the news his niece was heading home.
Alongside an adorable picture of Callie wrapped up in a pink blanket in her cot, it read: “This post isn’t seeking your attention or sympathy for me.
“This post is seeking your attention and sympathy for the .
“100 days ago.. My gorgeous little niece.. – Callie Lennon Miller – .. was born into this world to begin her battle of life.”
He added: “After just 26 weeks in the comfort of my incredible Sister In Laws womb, she brightened up our lives as she was born.
“Born 14 weeks early, she weighed a tiny 608g (1lb 5 oz). She spent 100 days in NICU under the care of the incomparable staff of the #NHS – at both #RoyalBoltonHospital& #StMarysHospital in Manchester.
“Thanks to the team of heroes at both hospitals, she can now breathe and feed on her own and is free of incubators and tubes.
“Weighing a whopping ‘6lb 6oz’ she is FINALLY coming home into the loving care of two beautiful human beings, in my Brother @manclydrawnboy & his courageous wife Jessica Miller, who are both already model parents.”
Danny has praised his brother and sister-in-law for their ‘inspiration, bravery and determination’ throughout the difficult time.
The star said: “If you had just half the inspiration, bravery and determination that these three have, you can overcome the impossible.
“They did. And I couldn’t be prouder.”
Danny went on to make a sweet promise to his niece, as he vowed to do ‘everything’ as part of his uncle duties.
The sweet post concluded: “Welcome to The Big Wide World, Princess.
“I will do everything I can for you and more, I promise.”
