Bake Off’s Prue Leith vows not to tweet about show final tonight after accidentally revealing the winner last year
PRUE Leith has poked fun at her infamous Twitter gaffe by vowing to stay silent during tonight's Bake Off final.
The judge, 78, was left heartbroken last year when she accidentally revealed the 2017 winner online, hours before the much-anticipated episode had aired.
While she was devastated at the time, Prue made light of the situation this morning by ensuring she Tweeted about the 2018 final way ahead of time.
She wrote to her 27,000 followers: "Good luck to all the bakers tonight in the @BritishBakeOff FINAL. All fantastic bakers and worthy winners."
Before joking about her famous gaffe by adding: "That is all I am going to say....for now!!!"
The Tweet left her fans in stitches, with one writing back: ""Haha! Love the humour in this. I have loved this series and can't wait to find out who has won!"
While others joked: "Step AWAY from the Twitter, Prue!"
And: "I thought someone would have confiscated your phone today?!"
Prue caused uproar last year when she congratulated winner Sophie Faldo on her Twitter page, almost twelve hours before the final hit screens.
The chef made the blunder due to confusion over time difference, having been away in Bhutan at the time.
While the message was deleted 80 seconds later, it was still seen by thousands and went viral online - leaving the telly judge devastated.

Speaking about the incident on This Morning last November, she said: "I felt suicidal, awful. The thing that upset me the most was that this would take attention off the winner.
"And Sophie has worked for months and months for this moment. The column inches would be about my tweet and not her triumph.
"I emailed her and she said, ‘Don’t be silly’. Actually everybody was really nice about it. Celebrities would tweet me and say, ‘It’s exactly what I could have done’. But you have to be a real idiot to do that!"
Tonight's episode will see Ruby, Rahul and Kim-Joy battle it out for the 2018 title, in one last set of challenges in the Bake Off tent.
