The drama began on Monday when Cardi B shared eleven videos on Instagram slamming Nicki, reigniting their famous feud.

In one of the clips, the I Like It hitmaker claimed she had been asked by Little Mix to collaborate on their new song Woman Like Me but turned it down, allowing Nicki to step in.

She said: "Then, that Woman Like Me record… Yeah I had to decline it because I’m doing a lot of pop records, so I can’t over exaggerate myself but that came to me first."

However, the girl band have now confirmed this was not the case on Twitter, which revealed they approached both artists - but had always dreamed of working with Nicki.

It read: "We love and respect both Nicki and Cardi B. Both were approached by our label to work with us on Woman Like Me, Nicki then Cardi.

"We went with Nicki because like we've said over and over for years, it's been a dream of ours to work with her since the beginning."

Before adding: "We have nothing but love and positivity for both Nicki and Cardi."

The band - Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - were forced to make an official statement after backlash for their first response.

Yesterday, the girls took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a Whatsapp conversation in July, which appeared to confirm Nicki had been asked to work on the single first.

They wrote beside it: "Sorry Cardi hun but this is the T. We've always wanted the Queen (no shade)."

Before setting the record straight in the caption: "We just want to clarify...Nicki was approached first."

However, some fans were unimpressed with the response, branding it "shady" and "low" in the comments.

Things only worsened for the girls when Nicki noticed that Jade had liked her comment defending herself on Cardi B's video.

Her message read: "Babe we all get deals & turn them down. Same with songs dummy.

"Little mix has been trying to get me on a song for 7 years. I finally found one I loved."

Sharing an image of Jade liking the words with her 20 million Twitter followers, Nicki wrote: "Btch Jade from Little Mix said KNOTTTTTT on my watch!"

Nicki and Cardi have been embroiled in vicious spats over the past few months.

The pair were pictured in a heated debate during a  New York Fashion Week party last month, which got out of hand when Cardi threw a shoe at her 35-year-old nemesis when she slated her parenting.

However the spat has worsened in recent weeks, with Cardi most recently slamming Nicki in her new single, and even threatening to sue her in her string of Instagram posts.
