Culture Club singer Boy George takes revenge on ex-lover Jon Moss by booting him out of band
THERE are plenty of ways to get revenge on your ex – but Boy George really has taken things to the extreme.
The thought of spending every day on tour with his former lover and drummer Jon Moss has proved unbearable.
The Culture Club singer has booted him out of the band just weeks before their latest lucrative European tour.
Boy, real name George O'Dowd, wasted no time in replacing Jon, who was an original member of the Eighties group.
But insiders say Jon has been left stunned by the decision to axe him. A music source said: “Jon has been in floods of tears and is beside himself with grief.
He says he was fired by Boy for no apparent reason and that a new drummer has even been found to replace him on the band’s upcoming tour.
“As a founding member of Culture Club, he isn’t prepared to take Boy’s decision without a fight.
“He is threatening to take legal action and recoup huge damages and losses from Boy unless he is immediately reinstated.”
A source added: “Jon and the rest of the band were miffed by this decision and thought their legacy and contribution to Culture Club was being trashed by Boy.”
A spokeswoman for Boy George confirmed: “Jon is taking a break from Culture Club but the door is open in the future.”
Losing his place will be galling for Jon who no doubt contributed to their new album Life — their first release in almost 20 years.
In an interview last week, Boy said: “We started it four years ago, we were recording in Spain and we had a really great time doing it.
“I’m kind of really glad that we did it this year because everyone was in such a much better place.
“I even allowed people to have opinions on this album, which is shocking.”
