Loose Women’s Linda Robson, 60, does dementia tests daily after fearing she’ll get the same illness as her beloved mum
LINDA Robson has revealed she does daily dementia tests after fearing she’ll get the same illness as her mum, Rita.
The 60-year-old Loose Women star was devastated as she watched her mother, who died in 2012, succumb to the disease.
“I try to remember numbers, things like that. It was awful seeing the woman I worshipped deteriorate.”
What are the stages of dementia?
Many cases of dementia start with early warning signs. This early stage is known as cognitive impairment and can be barely noticeable or mistaken for something else, such as depression.
These include slight:
- slowness of thought
- difficulty with planning
- trouble with language
- problems with attention and concentration
- mood or behavioural changes
“I can never thank them enough for the way they looked after my mum.
“I have mixed feelings returning – my mum died here, but she died here comfortable with the best possible treatment you could have.”
Linda added: “Her death wasn’t unexpected but it was still a shock.
“People think hospices are depressing places but they aren’t – we took so much comfort knowing there was someone looking after Mum round the clock.
“Every person who walked through the door was cared for – not just the patients, but the families too.”
