Who is Anthony Quinlan, is he leaving Emmerdale and when did he split with Strictly dancer Dianne Buswell?
ANTHONY Quinlan is best known for playing Pete Barton in ITV soap Emmerdale.
But what else do we know about him? And is it true that he’s leaving the soap after six years?
Who is Anthony Quinlan?
Anthony Quinlan, 35, is a British actor from Salford.
From 2005 – 2011 he played Gilly Roach in C4 and E4 soap Hollyoaks.
During his time on the show, Gilly was involved in some major storylines including spiralling into a dark place when his girlfriend Steph Cunningham died.
Gilly was also involved in a major storyline when his best friend’s girlfriend Jacqui McQueen accused him of raping her.
Is Anthony Quinlan leaving Emmerdale as Pete Barton?
In 2013 it was announced that Anthony would be joining ITV soap Emmerdale playing the role of Pete Barton.
He first appeared on-screen in December 2013.
But he has now quit after nearly six years in the role.
A soap source said: “Anthony has loved his time on Emmerdale but he is really keen to try and make a name for himself away from just soaps, and is looking at auditions.
“He says he would be up for doing a reality show too, like the jungle or Strictly, but with a full-on filming schedule for Emmerdale that’s quite tricky.”
Is Anthony Quinlan single?
It’s not known if Anthony is dating anyone but he did split with Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell in October 2018.
Anthony revealed that it was actually the distance that caused the relationship to fail.
Speaking to Sun Online, he said: “Over the ten months in which we were dating, it was very up and down.
“It’s just the long distance thing was quite taxing for us both. But we are still good friends, you know.
“And like I said these things happen day to day.
“The fact of the matter is relationships don’t always work. It is taxing when you’ve got a distance between each other.
“When we were together we had a great time.”
Rumours circulated that Dianne and her 2018 dance partner Joe Sugg had become close.
Anthony responded saying: “Take from it what you will. People are always going to speculate. That’s certainly out of my hands. There’s nothing I can do about that.
“All I can do is crack on and do what I do. But I wish them both all the best.
“They’re doing absolutely amazing on the show.”
The dance pair were runners-up on the 2018 show behind Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton.
