Great British Bake Off tent axed for the final for the first time ever
THE Great British Bake Off will ditch the beloved tent for the first time ever next week.
The final of the Channel 4 series, which airs next Tuesday, will see Ruby, Rahul and Kim-Joy take on a task outside of the iconic marquee, in a big twist for the 2018 series.
According to the , next week's technical challenge will see the bakers whipping up creations away from the tent, without the use of their usual kitchen equipment.
A source told the paper: "You won't need ovens or hobs for this challenge.
";It should be simple, but not everything goes to plan."
The decision will no doubt shock viewers, as it is the first time the hopefuls have worked outside of the marquee - erected in Berkshire's Welford Park - in the show's eight-year history.
The Sun Online have contacted representatives of the show for further comment.
The Bake Off final will air on Channel 4 next Tuesday night, and will see either Rahul, Ruby or Kim-Joy crowned the winner.
Paul Hollywood, who judges alongside Prue Leith, said of the final round: “It’s going to be a fantastic final next week.
"We have got three great bakers and each one of them has this very artistic flair.
“If they bring their A-game, that is going to be the best final ever – I promise you.”
Briony narrowly missed out on a spot tonight, after failing to impress the judges during a tricky Patisserie week.
The hopefuls were pushed to their limits during the semi-final, and were tasked with making dipped Madeleine biscuits, a seven-tier chocolate cake and a 36-strong Patisserie window display.
