The result led fans to claim the series was fixed, as Rahul bagged a place in the semi-finals - despite receiving fierce criticism in all three challenges.

And it seems their fury has not yet subsided, as many are even threatening to not watch tonight's episode after Manon's shock departure.

Taking to Twitter, angry viewers wrote in their droves: "Not watching #gbbo #bakeoff tonight, no point, we all know they'll send Briony home"

And: "Gonna have to boycott bake off next week, loved Manon :("

While others added: "Boycott Bake Off for sending Manom home instead of Raul or Kim-Joy" and "BOYCOTT BAKE OFF"

Others questioned: "Anyone else feel that Manon should be there rather than Raul?"

And: "Just watched last week's bake off. Can't believe that they sent Manon home and not Rahul."

While further viewers joked about Rahul's survival, by writing: "Tonight on The Great British Bake Off, Rahul burns down the tent. Paul sends Briony home."

And: "Prediction for patisserie week next week. Rahul in a second disastrous week burns down the tent after setting his oven too high for too long but gets 3 handshakes from Paul and is star baker."

Rahul survived the quarter-finals by the skin of his teeth last week, after burning both his technical and show-stopper entries.

Meanwhile Manon received praise for her first two bakes, and only faced criticism for making something more like a French pain au chocolat than a danish pastry in the final round.
