Liam Payne says getting dumped is ‘the story of my life’ after his split with Cheryl
The 25-year-old made light of his single status three months after splitting from the pop star, 35
LIAM Payne has joked that getting dumped is the "story of his life" after his split from Cheryl.
The singer, who parted from the pop star earlier this year, made light of his unlucky-in-love status at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards today.
Liam and Cheryl, 35, announced their split in July, and the 25-year-old has now admitted he's never been a hit with the ladies.
When asked about the most embarrassing thing he'd done to win over a girl, the star recalled on the red carpet: "I once sang to a girl at the lockers.
"I asked her out a record number of times, I asked her out loads and really fancied her.
"But she dumped me. She went out with me because I sang to her and then dumped me the next day!"
Before adding with a laugh: "The story of my bloody life if I'm honest, it happens to me loads. It's what seems to happen."
The interview at London's Wembley Arena comes three months after he separated from the Girls Aloud star, with whom he shares son Bear.
The pair started dating in early 2016, and welcomed their first child the following year before breaking up shortly after his first birthday.
Liam has spoken openly about his heartache, and recently revealed he feels closer to his loved ones and fans than ever since the split.

He wrote on Twitter: "Time to rise above the negativity I love positive people on Twitter. I’ve actually never felt closer to my family, friends and fans as I have the past few months with me whatever I’m going through."
It was recently reported that Liam and his baby-mumma are being "kept apart by X Factor bosses" as they're both "booked to sing break-up songs" on the new series.
Cheryl's first single in four years, titled Love Made Me Do It, is set to drop on Friday, and will give her take on the pair's turbulent romance.
