A TV source told the Sun: “Netflix could be the saviours of Big Brother — the news fans have wanted to hear since Channel 5 made the announcement.

“Executives at Endemol are meeting with Netflix early next week.

“Of course it’s still early days.

“Streaming sites have a lot of money so it’s an option they’re looking at.”

It comes after Netflix announced it is commissioning two series of Channel 4 flop The Circle.

Earlier this week presenter of Big Brother Emma Willis said she hoped it would come back.

ITV had been tipped as favourites to bring it back.

The Voice host said: “I feel sad and disappointed because it’s been a massive part of my life as a human being before I worked on it and also as a career and as a member of the British public, as it’s been on TV for almost 20 years.

Channel 5 confirms this series of Big Brother will be its last and there'll be no more Celebrity Big Brother either

“I am sad about it but everything needs a break at some point or a rest or a new home to breathe life into it again.

“So hopefully it will come back in some way shape or form at some point but if it does come back it needs to be in the right way and not rushed.”

She went on to say she would front the show once again if asked.

Back in September, Channel 5 said: "The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last - of either celebrity or civilian versions - on Channel 5.

"We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.”

It added: "Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years.

"We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off.”
