Furious Great British Bake Off fans claim show is FIXED after Manon is booted off over Rahul
BAKE OFF fans were left fuming last night and called the show "a fix" after Manon Lagreve was given the boot over Rahul Mandal.
Viewers were shocked as Rahul avoided the chop, even though all three of his efforts were slammed by the judges.
There were just five contestants left on Tuesday night to tackle Danish Week, inspired by host Sandi Toksvig’s heritage.
It seemed to be going well enough for Manon who passed both the Signature and the Technical challenges - although Paul complained her Rye bread was more French in style.
It was only her Showstopper pud that the judges didn't seem too keen on, with her Danish pastry compared to pain au chocolat.
Rahul, however, definitely did NOT get on well with the theme this week.
It all started with his attempt at the Signature dish which was Smorrebrod - a Danish rye bread open sandwich.
Unfortunately judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were less than impressed with his bread's "soggy bottom".
The quarter-finalists then had to tackle the tricky Æbleskiver for this week's technical challenge - these are small little dough balls filled with apple and cinnamon, then dipped in strawberry jam.
Unfortunately, Rahul's were left in the oven a little too long and were far too burnt.
Next was the Showstopper which was a Kagemand - a danish pastry shaped like a person.
Again, Paul said Rahul had baked his for too long.
But despite all of this, he was saved from the chop and a very tearful Manon was given her marching orders.
This DID NOT go down well with the viewers at home.
Fans immediately showed their support for the French baker and called the show "a fix" and threatened to boycott the show.
One said: "That’s me not watching the #BakeOff again as it’s a fix. Shocking decision that."
While another commented: "#GBBO what a con sending Manon home over Raul @Channel4 #bakeoff"
This one said: "#bakeoff No! Rahul was the worst this week. Why has Manon gone home?? @Channel4GBBO"
Meanwhile, it was a good night for Ruby Bhogal who was named Star Baker.
