Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews and wife Vogue Williams land reality show weeks after birth of son
FROM Binky Felstead and JP Patterson to Sam Faires and Paul Knightley – fly-on-the wall shows starring reality TV couples are all the rage.
And now Spencer Matthews and his wife Vogue Williams are about to jump on the bandwagon, too.
I can reveal the couple, who married in June, have been handed their own E4 reality series — which will follow them juggling parenting, work and life in the limelight.
It comes weeks after the pair, became first-time parents, following the birth of their son Theodore, last month.
A TV source said: “Reality TV will always be in Spencer and Vogue’s blood — especially given they met on The Jump.
“After being approached a number of times, they’ve decided it’s time for them to head back on screen and open their doors to fans.
“They’re a couple who have embarked on parenting as a team — both of them are really hands-on.
“Unlike the Mummy Diaries (featuring Sam Faiers and her sister Billie), this is going to be a light-hearted look at the Matthews household as a whole.
“Theodore, who is affectionately known as Beefy by his adoring parents, will be taking centre stage as the cameras follow his mum and dad knee deep in nappies, as they try to figure out how on earth to be the best mum and dad they can be.”
Spencer previously opened up to The Sun about his desire to bag a TV show with his wife.
The former Made In Chelsea star said: “We’d love to work together on a TV project but it would have to be the right idea.
“There will be some sort of reality telly future projects, I am sure, but whether or not I will watch it is something else.”
It seems Spencer and Vogue aren’t the only couple heading for their own programme.
The Sun yesterday revealed that Love Island’s Megan Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson are also in advanced talks to front their own show.
They’ve been approached by several production companies but are still considering their options before signing up to anything.
There won’t be enough room on the TV schedules at this rate.
Scary nine live
STEVE Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith’s award-winning Inside No9 is going live – with a Halloween special.
In the scary tale, a man who finds a mobile phone in a graveyard slides into his own living nightmare after making the mistake of trying to contact the owner.
Reece and Steve are looking to include more surprises in the next series of Inside No9, which starts filming next year.
If this Halloween special – airing on Sunday, October 28 on BBC2 at 10pm — is a taste of things to come, I can’t wait to see what they are.
Show time, Emma
EMMA Willis doesn’t usually do things by halves – but she seems to be missing a large part of her dress.
The Voice host, was at the launch of the ITV show’s latest series.
She was joined by coaches Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Olly Murs and Sir Tom Jones, who is back on form after missing five dates on his recent UK tour through sickness.
ITV also announced a one-hour Black Eyed Peas tribute show to be hosted later this year by Joanna Lumley. An unlikely pairing.
Rantzen returns
HER show That’s Life! has not been on telly for more than 20 years, but Dame Esther Rantzen now plans a reboot of sorts.
Speaking at Monday’s Women Of The Year Awards in London, the veteran presenter, said: “I’m doing a new consumer show with Channel 5.
“It’s going to be similar to That’s Life! and we’re hoping to announce it towards the end of the year.”
Esther, now 78, added: “I’m happy to still be working and don’t fancy retirement yet.”
I admire her work ethic.
Grapple Danish
DANISH Week proved tough for Bake Off quarter-finalists and French contestant Manon Lagreve struggled the most.
The theme – a nod to host Sandi Toksvig – had bakers preparing bread and pastries.
Manon, above, said: “I love Denmark, have been twice to Copenhagen and my best friend is Danish – but none of that helped me! I was hoping to make my friend proud but she has now forgiven me.”
Baking her pal some cakes should do the trick.
Soapbox
SARAH’s condition continues to cause her family concern, in Emmerdale.
Jacob steps in to defend Maya’s honour, while Aaron decides now is the time to make a shocking admission.
In Coronation Street, Robert grows suspicious of Ali’s behaviour, while the police question Michelle about the accident.
She is shocked when officers tell her Ronan had a gun in his car.
Elsewhere, Peter reaches the end of his tether with Vicky goading Sinead – and bans the use of all mobile phones in the factory.
While, in Neighbours, Piper and Tyler discuss recent events while contemplating their future. When Amy agrees to a date with Gary, Paul reacts in petulant fashion.
