GARETH Gates showed off his impressive six pack in a topless video after splitting with Faye Brookes.

The former Pop Idol star's abs proved that he hadn't spent the breakup moping around.

Taking to his Twitter account Gareth, 34, shared the sexy clip to his 97.7k followers.

In it he stands in front of a mirror in what appears to be boxers and nothing else.

But it's no ordinary selfie, the singer added the zoom filter which honed in on his impressive gym-buffed physique.

He captioned the video "Quick Bed Blast" and his fans were quick to gush over his bod.

One wrote "Looking good!!" while another said "now that's a nice view on a rainy day."

One fan even went so far as to say: "Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top."

While some mope about and consume their body weight in chocolate after a break-up, it looks like Gareth has been hitting the gym since splitting with his ex-girlfriend Faye Brookes.

The Sun revealed in September that the couple had called time on their six-year romance, announcing their split on social media claiming that they “remain the best of friends.”

But sources close to the pair told The Sun the real reason behind their separation was the former Pop Idol star’s refusal to let Faye socialise with her Corrie co-stars without him, which led to constant rows.

An insider said: “At certain points in their relationship Gareth was very controlling.

“He wasn’t always happy with Faye going on nights out with her friends from work without him which inevitably led to arguments between them.

“Gareth doesn’t always have a busy schedule like Faye and can get bored when he’s left to his own devices – and it’s during these times he would feel the need to call her phone more often.

A lot of Faye’s co-stars on Coronation Street have been concerned for her in the lead up to their split and are pleased she has been able to move on now.”

And by the looks of it Faye also hasn't sat inside licking her wounds.

Just days ago she hit the town for a girls night out in Manchester.

The Corrie actress put her heartbreak behind her and was all smiles as she joined co-stars Kym Marsh, Lucy Fallon and Victoria Ekanoye for the launch of new restaurant Peter Street Kitchen.
