Katie's Jive to Why Do Fools Fall In Love by Frankie Lymon wasn't good enough to see off Charles Venn in the dance off
KATIE Piper is the latest celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing, losing out to Charles Venn in tonight's dance off.
Fans of the show were furious Katie, who celebrated her 35th birthday yesterday, was sent home while disgraced pair Seann Walsh and Katya Jones advanced following their drunken snog behind their partners' backs.
Taking to Twitter, they fumed: "Cannot believe ppl voted for the lying cheating scumbags. Ffs i have to put up with annoying seann again #Strictly.
"How the hell did seann and Katya get through in strictly wtf.
"OH NO WHY IS SEANN THROUGH #Strictly.
"Shut the flaming front door!!!! No way are Seann and Katya through?! 😳 #Strictly."
The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples facing the dance off.
Katie and Gorka Marquez performed their Jive to Why Do Fools Fall In Love by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers while Charles and Karen Clifton, featuring in their second consecutive dance off, performed their Salsa to Use It Up and Wear It Out by Odyssey.
The judges' were unanimous in their decision, voting to save Charles and Karen.
Craig Revel Horwood said: “The best dance for me. Charles and Karen.”
Darcey Bussell said: “The couple I would like to save for a stronger performance is Charles and Karen.”
Bruno Tonioli agreed: “The couple that stood out for me, so I would save them, is Charles and Karen.”
Head Judge Shirley Ballas' vote wasn't needed but she said she would have gone the same way as her colleagues.
Gracious in defeat, Katie said: “I have taken a lot from this experience and it has all been really positive, and I’ll never forget this journey.
"Charles was the better dancer out of us two and there are some brilliant dancers in this competition and sadly I don’t think I was one of them! But I have had a great experience you know and I feel really privileged to have been here and thanks for your advice and thank you (Gorka) for all the hours.
"One thing as well all the public not just the audience here but the general public have been so supportive online and have voted for me the other weeks so I feel thrilled to have been here for four weeks. So thank you to everyone.”
Gorka was asked if he had any words for Katie, he said: “Well first of all thank you, for being such a wonderful human because you know everyone knows how much you have been through and everything but to get the chance to know you and be working with you and get to know how strong you are, how always wanting to be better and improve. For me that’s my lesson and what I learnt from you.”
After much deliberation, the BBC decided not to axe Seann and Katya for their kiss, leaving them free to perform last night's Charleston.
Beeb bosses decided to give the pair the fun dance instead of the Rumba, to steer the pair clear of a raunchy routine following their scandalous kiss.
The pair publicly apologised for their behaviour earlier this week, after Seann was publicly dumped by his long-term girlfriend Rebecca Humphries.
