Peaky Blinders stars Finn Cole and Anya Taylor-Joy battle Storm Callum as they film in Liverpool
LIVERPOOL has been transported back in time to the 1930s as filming of the next series of Peaky Blinders gets under way.
The cast and crew of the hit BBC period drama were spotted filming at the Martins Bank building in the Northern city.
And the team were joined perhaps by an unexpected (and most likely unwelcome) guest – storm Callum.
New cast member Anya Taylor-Joy (who some may have been mesmerised by in the 2016 big screen horror-thriller Split) found herself fighting the elements as she filmed scenes outdoors.
The American actress had her hair blown around in high winds – and saw her period attire drenched by heavy rain.
The star got to work regardless, filming scenes in the streets – surrounded by extras dressed in similar time-period attire.
Finn Cole – who has played Michael Gray in the series since 2014 – was also in Liverpool for filming.
Joining Anya for scenes, the British actor wore sharp suits for his scenes.
While Peaky Blinders is filming scenes in Liverpool, the series is actually set in Birmingham.
The first four seasons of the show aired on BBC Two – however the fifth season will air on BBC One after a steady rise in viewing figures.
The show stars Irish actor Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby and follows the misfortunes and successes of a band of gangsters.
A List stars including Jurassic Park legend Sam Neill, action star Tom Hardy, and Oscar winning actor Adrien Brody have boosted the show’s appeal.
Created and written by Steven Knight – a co-creator of Who Want’s To Be A Millionaire-turned screen writer – the show has covered periods of history following the aftermath of World War I.
The first series featured events based on those from the Peaky Blinders gang in 1919 – while the second series was set over 1921 and 1922.
The third series is set in 1924 as the Peaky Blinders attempt to take their criminal activities to an international level – while series four is set between 1925 and 1926.
