KATIE Price could be jailed for up to six months after she was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The ex-glamour model was held by cops in the early hours of the morning after she allegedly crashed her £75,000 pink Range Rover into a bush.

The 40-year-old has now been released under investigation and could now face a prison sentence if charged and later convicted of a drink-drive offence.

Being in charge of a vehicle while above the legal limit or unfit through drink carries a three-month sentence, possible driving ban and a £2,500 fine.

And driving or attempting to drive while above the legal limit or unfit through drink could mean jail for six months, an unlimited fine and a driving ban of at least one year.

Both charges carry aggravating features that could increase the length of a prison sentence - including previous convictions relating to the nature of the offence.

Drink-driving - the law

The drink drive limit differs in the UK depending on if you are in England, Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland.

Government guidelines state that the limit in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath or 107 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of urine.

In Scotland the limits are 50 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, 22 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath or 67 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of urine.

With just 10mg per 100ml of blood you are 37 per cent more likely to be involved in a fatal road accident than when sober.

Her arrest comes just days after Price decided to take a break from a 28-day rehab stint at The Priory after undergoing treatment for PTSD.

She has already fallen foul of the law for driving offences and was banned from getting behind the wheel in February after being clocked doing 60mph on the 50mph A24.

The Sun on Sunday revealed in July that police had been alerted to pictures of the star driving two weeks before the end of her ban.

Cops confirmed last month Price is facing a police summons after they lost patience with the stair's failure to contact them.

She later confessed on Instagram, explaining she had been driving son Harvey to hospital. She blamed an “emotional rollercoaster” for her decision to drive while banned.

She said at the time: "Been on such an emotional rollercoaster the last 6 months and my head has been all over the place, so much so, that I thought my driving ban was up.

"After driving to Harvey's Hospital appointment I have NOW found out that I don't get my licence back until 8th August. With this on my conscience I called police and reported myself.

"I've come such a long way and just want easy life now. I have got out of a hole and am finally happy and looking forward to being my old independent self."

Head of road traffic defence at Slater and Gordon, Paul Reddy, said: "While still a serious offence, this would not be an aggravating feature if she was charged and convicted of drink-driving."

The telly favourite was also banned from driving in September 2012 after failing to respond to two speeding tickets, arguing that her mum handled her post.

She has endured a traumatic year - including her split from husband Kieran Hayler and getting dumped by toyboy lover Kris Boyson last month.

She had been at his 30th birthday bash in The Meze restaurant in Bexleyheath just hours before her arrest today.

Price is reportedly putting her £2million home on the market and is flogging belongings due to money woes.

Earlier this year, she found out her mum Amy, 64, was terminally ill with lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

In September, Katie was filmed at a wild party with two men she met in a bar rapping the words “I love coke” before slumping to the floor.

The ex-glamour model was also snapped next to a bag of cocaine on a table top.

She had been in Majorca with pals on a hen do when she met two German lads, who said that after downing shots and champagne, they went back to their apartment to “have a shower, get cosy and do drugs”.

Sun Online has contacted Sussex Police for comment.
