Susannah Constantine says Strictly Come Dancing stint was a ‘car crash’ but that she’s ‘gutted’ to have left first
The What Not To Wear host, 56, was voted off after scoring just 24/80 for her Samba and Foxtrot
SUSANNAH Constantine has branded her Strictly Come Dancing appearance a "car crash" after becoming the first celebrity to be given the boot.
The What Not To Wear host, 56, received a score of just 24 for two dances, but is still "gutted" to have been voted off first alongside partner Anton Du Beke.
The pair were eliminated on Saturday night, after failing to impress the judges in a dance-off against Lee Ryan and Nadiya Bychkova.
With both her Samba and Foxtrot landing them at the bottom of the leaderboard, Susannah has now admitted it was her nerves that stopped her from succeeding on the dance floor.
She told : "My score of 12 for the Samba from our wise judges highlighted the fact that my nerves swallowed any semblance of a dancer and spat out a woman in a terrible rush to get it done.
"The annoying thing is, I'd learnt the moves pretty well – but, I agree, the execution was a car crash."
Despite being left disappointed by her scores, Susannah said she was still "gutted" to have left the competition first.
Speaking on Monday's It Takes Two, she said: "Obviously, I'm gutted to be out first. It's not a nice feeling at all, but if anyone else had gone out, I'd have felt like I cheated.
"I am the worst dancer. I am the oldest female there. I have no experience, but I went out there despite all that and I tried my best."
The Sun later revealed that both Susannah and Anton had tantrums backstage after receiving the boot, before the presenter vowed to never dance again on social media.
Bosses are now fearing show stalwart Anton may quit the series next year, after years of being given"dud partners".
However the ballroom pro, who has appeared on the BBC show for 14 years, was quick to slam claims he was leaving on Twitter yesterday.
He wrote: "My loves, some people are reporting I'm quitting the show. Absolute rubbish! I'm NEVER quitting. Whether they want me or not, I'm never going!"
