THE MONK

THE Apprentice candidate Rick Monk was hoping to impress Lord Sugar with some big ideas and business innovations.

Sadly for him, he was given the boot during the shoe designing task. But just who is Rick Monk?

Who is Rick Monk?

Rick, 33, is a quality controller from Lancashire.

In September 2018 Rick admitted to working as a £200-an-hour escort with his partner Katie.

In a statement, Rick said: “We’re in a loving relationship and have been together for many years – and as many couples are these days, we’re also both sexually adventurous people.

“In the past we have been listed on an escort agency website, but we are not currently active members and haven’t been for some time.”

When was Rick fired from The Apprentice?

The golden rule of business is that if you’re going to have a blazing row you should never do it in front of a customer.

Rick and Jasmine’s bust-up on The Apprentice upholds that theory as Rick basically told a pair of possible clients — to their faces — that his team were wasting their time with them as the duo clearly weren’t interested in buying.

Rick was duly fired.

Before the show, Rick said that one of his best qualities is his confidence and assertiveness.

He believed that befriending all the contestants would set him in good stead to get their backing in a task but warned that he is a "wolf in sheep’s clothing" and will use this to his advantage.

He said: “I won't pussyfoot and waste time, as time is of the essence in everything. People will have to like it or lump it.”

Who is on the show's board with Lord Sugar?

Lord Sugar needs "eyes and ears" on the ground during each week's tasks.

He used to be assisted by Nick Hewer and uber-shrewd Margaret Mountford.

But after legal aid Margaret left in 2009, West Ham CEO Karren Brady took over the role.

Then, in 2014, PR guru Nick left The Apprentice, and Claude Littner stepped in to replace him after years acting as one of the official interviewers during the CV round.

This year, Karren and Claude will both return to the show to spot who's not pulling their weight during the tasks.

When is The Apprentice on BBC One?

The Apprentice is a hit BBC reality show, now in its 14th series, featuring hour-long episodes.

Each series of the programme aims to find a new apprentice for billionaire business mogul and Amstrad founder Lord Alan Sugar, who's worth £1.4bn.

It aims to recreate the toughest of business environments and tasks for its set of contestants, but it is often very funny due to the incompetence and arrogance of the competitors.

It launched on BBC One on Wednesday, October 3, at 9pm and continues at the same time each week for 12 weeks.

It is followed by The Apprentice: You're Fired on BBC Two at 10pm, where the axed candidate is grilled by host Rhod Gilbert.
