Justin Theroux breaks silence on ‘heartbreaking’ split with Jennifer Aniston seven months after they ended marriage

He described their split as 'heartbreaking' but 'gentle' and said their friendship is 'shifting and changing'

ACTOR Justin Theroux has spoken out about his “heartbreaking” split from ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

While revealing that he was left deeply saddened by the separation in February this year, he said it was a “gentle” breakup.

Speaking to the , he said: “It was heartbreaking.”

Justin added that the saddest part was that his “friendship” with Jen changed.

He said: “Only in the sense that the friendship would not be the same, as far as just the day to day. But the friendship is shifting and changing, you know, so that part is something that we’re both very proud of.”

The Spy Who Dumped Me actor added that he was thankful there was no “animosity” with the split.

He said: “The good news is that was probably the most — I’m choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity.”

Justin and Jen were married for three years, and they only confirmed the break-up after journalists questioned Justin’s partying alone in the Big Apple.

Their statement emerged just two hours after one US media outlet contacted the couple about his behaviour.

It confirmed the “best friends” had “lovingly” separated late last year.

Justin has recently been rumoured to be getting close to Mania co-star Emma Stone.

However the pair avoided getting too close to each other on the film's pink carpet at its New York City premiere earlier this week.
