TROUBLED Katie Price has checked into rehab suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The TV star, 40, is being treated at the Priory after family urged her to get help following drink and drug binges.

Loved ones confronted the Loose Women star over The Sun on Sunday’s footage of her drunkenly cavorting with two German men in Majorca and rapping: “I love coke.”

The PTSD has been blamed for her wild behaviour.  Mum Amy said: “No parent wants to see their child crumble. It’s unbearable.”

Katie broke down, admitting she desperately needed help to stop her self-destructive behaviour.

After a consultation at the clinic on Wednesday she was diagnosed with co-morbid post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She starts 28 days of rehab tomorrow.

Mum Amy said last night: “Kate has been her own worst enemy and behaved like an idiot at times but she has been tearing herself apart for years.”

Amy, who has a terminal lung condition, also heaped blame on her daughter’s three ex-husbands and critics on social media.

She added: “To see what Katie is going through and how she has been treated hurts me and my family.

“No mum or dad wants to see their child treated like this, watch as they crumble, and feel powerless to help. It’s unbearable.

“She is constantly judged on her kids, her home, work, financial situation, the way she looks, how she dresses and what she does.

“No person can take this kind of pressure and not succumb to it.

“Of course she has put herself in the public eye but she has been dealing with endless attack as well as my illness.”

Mum-of-five Katie, 40, has struggled with her split from third husband Kieran Hayler, and clashed with first husband Peter Andre over care of their two children.

The model, who is also facing financial ruin, met her assigned doctor and medical team on Thursday.

The clinic has put her on a curfew but allows her home in the evenings to care for her children. She is banned from social media and has had her phone confiscated.

Doctors will haul her in for residential treatment if she is considered a threat to herself, or fails to follow strict clinic rules.

Katie’s dad Ray has moved into a motorhome at her East Sussex home. Amy and husband Paul are with her for support.

Amy added: “All the men in her life have used Katie, and never, ever leave her alone.

“And nearly all have been with her to raise their profile.

“Kieran almost destroyed Kate with his behaviour, Alex (Reid) has been as bad, and Pete likes to portray himself as perfect.

“They all know that Kate is not perfect and they all know that if they wind her up she will react.

“Kate is stupid for reacting, but these men need to look at how they are behaving and take some responsibility.

“I am relieved that Kate has admitted she needs help to cope, to recognise her shortcomings and erratic behaviour, and to learn to love herself — to find the person inside she really is.

“Rehab is a commitment she has made to herself, so I hope others allow her the breathing space to do this, and to heal herself.”

Aussie singer Peter, 45, previously asked Katie to have a drug test, and recently refused to hand their kids Junior, 13, and Princess, 11, back to her over concerns about her partying.

After rehab Katie will again share custody of the children, and care full-time for Harvey, 16 — her son with ex-footballer Dwight Yorke — plus Jett, five, and Bunny, four, her kids with former stripper Kieran, 31.

Amy added: “Kate is a wonderful daughter and good mother — despite what everyone thinks.

“It’s important for Kate to know how much we all love her, and her children do too.

“They need their mother to love herself and to learn to cope better.

‘To see her so lost has been terrifying’

“She has been walking a fine edge lately, and everyone knows it.

“One day she will tell people what has caused all this and some people will hold their heads in shame.

“Kate is a fighter and the least likely person I know to feel sorry for herself.

“So to see her so completely lost has been terrifying.”

PTSD, a form of acute anxiety, is often diagnosed in ex-forces ­personnel but is increasingly being seen in civilians.

Symptoms include insomnia, irritability, nightmares and traumatic flashbacks.

As part of rehab, Katie will be taught Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to cope with stress.

Hand and eye skills will help deal with trauma, thought to stem from her teen years. She will be given Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help recognise destructive impulsive tendencies.

Katie’s increasingly erratic antics have seen her drunk on wild nights out — flashing shocked clubbers, heckling strangers and propositioning various men.

This year she had a brief fling with toyboy Kris Boyson, 29, before moving on to Alex Adderson, 25.

Her inability to cope without self-medication has also seen her business interests slip.

Once worth millions she is now suffering financially.

She split from Kieran in April after he admitted cheating for the second time — though she suspects it is the tip of the iceberg.

Pals also say Katie has struggled to deal with her split from “love of her life” Peter.

The couple met on 2004’s I’m A Celebrity and married a year later. They divorced in 2009 after rows.

A friend said: “Kate is forever chasing the dream. She has never really got over Pete, and the wonderful life they shared together.

“At one stage she really did have it all — fame, money, family and happiness. She is desperate to get that back and has been deeply unhappy for many years.

“Kate has used cocaine and booze binges to mask the emptiness.
