Next James Bond film will be directed by True Detective’s Cary Fukunaga for release on February 14, 2020

The director will be taking over from Danny Boyle, who stepped down as the film's director in August

CARY Joji Fukunaga will direct the next James Bond film, which will be released on 14 February 2020.

The American director who won an Emmy for hit TV series True Detective, will be replacing Danny Boyle, who stepped down as the film's director in August due to "creative differences".

The news was announced via the official James Bond Twitter account today, as they also revealed when shooting would begin.

The announcement read: "Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that #Bond25 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios on 4 March 2019 under the helm of director, Cary Joji Fukunaga with a worldwide release date of 14 February 2020.

"We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," said Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.”

Cary, 41, is known for directing and exec producing the first series of True Detective.

He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for his efforts.

He is also known for directing Sin Nombre, Jane Eyre and Beasts Of No Nation.

Bond 25, which will feature Daniel Craig's final outing as Bond, was originally due for release on November 8, 2019, but changed after original director, Danny, pulled out.

The Trainspotting director quit the film because of "creative differences" in August.

Again the official James Bond Twitter account announced the news, saying : "Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25."

Danny had been confirmed to take on the role in May, and EON Productions executives Wilson and Broccoli stated at the time they were "delighted" to have got their man.
