What is Manson: The Lost Tapes about?

Manson: The Lost Tapes features 100 hours of original footage including unseen and rare interviews with the Manson family.

The documentary brings to life Charles Manson's world and how he assembled a group of young followers in a commune, four of whom would go on to commit the most infamous series of murders in US history.

The footage was discovered after British producer Simon Andreae traced the whereabouts of filmmaker Robert Hendrickson, who had been given exclusive access to the Manson cult 50 years ago.

His own documentary, Manson, was released in 1973, but was banned by a judge shortly afterwards.

Manson died from colon cancer on November 19, 2017.

Who will appear in Manson: The Lost Tapes?

The series includes interviews with various followers of Manson, most of whom fled difficult family backgrounds.

Former cult member Paul Watkins also speaks on camera.

He said of Manson's followers: "It’d be more like fear is what they were experiencing. Charlie said that fear was love."

Catherine Share also gives her experience of living in the commune and taking LSD administered by Manson.
