Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy WILL return to the soap after Luke Morgan’s ‘heartbreaking’ exit when Mandy Richardson’s affair with Darren Osbourne is exposed
The Sun Online can exclusively reveal he will return to the show far sooner than expected on a job share basis
GARY Lucy WILL make a shock return to Hollyoaks after his upcoming exit, The Sun Online can exclusively reveal.
The actor - who plays struggling alcoholic Luke Morgan in the Channel 4 soap - will soon leave to tour the country in The Full Monty stage show.
He was widely believed to be leaving the soap for this but now show bosses have struck a deal with the touring company.
Hollyoaks producer Bryan Kirkwood exclusively told The Sun Online that Gary will be returning, saying: "Yes [he is returning].
"In fact Gary made a joke the other day that we shouldn't have spent so much on his leaving drinks because he'll be back filming with us so soon.
"He's not returning full time.
"We'll be having him on a sort of job share with The Full Monty.
"The door is wide open for a long-term return."
A source added: “Gary features in a huge story about his son’s abuse by his football coach and there is a big trial in January.
"Gary is away on tour but he will be back to film soon."
The source also promised that Luke's exit from the village would be "heartbreaking".
His exit comes as Luke is left devastated when his wife Mandy's affair is finally fully exposed.
Luke will finally discover the identity of the man Mandy has been sleeping with for months - his best friend Darren Osbourne.
The affair will blow next week in dramatic scenes later this week.
Our exclusive pictures show Ashley Taylor Dawson who plays Darren sobbing after his cheating on his wife Nancy is discovered.
Other images reveal Nancy slapping best friend Mandy Richardson as the freindships between the couples collapse following the reveal of the long-running affair that started on the night of Luke and Mandy’s wedding.
The scenes will feature in the Hollyoaks autumn trailer which will launch on the Hollyoaks Facebook page at 5pm on Monday.
