Elizabeth Hurley wins battle against Amazon courier after driver ran over her pet dog
ELIZABETH Hurley has won a £2,000 payout after a delivery driver ran over her precious pet dog.
The Austin Powers actress was heartbroken after two-year-old Labrador Hector suffered a broken leg and punctured lung.
The delivery company used by Amazon initially refused to pay out over the incident which happened nine months ago on a private road near her Donnington Hall home in Herts.
Her sister Katie told : "Elizabeth was absolutely devastated.
"He had staggered back to the house. He collapsed and was bleeding in my arms.
"We thought we were going to lose him, it was just hideous."
A vet rushed to the scene and managed to save Hector's life.
Katie added: "The van was driving too fast. Because it happened on the estate a speed limit can’t be enforced so we ask people to use their common sense, but he didn’t."
She said the courier initially denied responsibility, but the star kept pushing for compensation.
Last night, Miss Hurley said in a statement: "[They] have finally settled the bill and it has taken them nine months to do so.
"That’s all I can say about it."
