Roxanne Pallett left the Celebrity Island after just five days because the smell of bonfires reminded her of when she was caught in a house fire aged 16
ROXANNE Pallett left Bear Grylls’ Celebrity Island after just five days after the camp’s bonfires gave her traumatic flashbacks.
The former Emmerdale star walked off the reality show earlier this year after the smell of the fires triggered memories of getting caught in a house fire when she was 16.
Roxanne’s spokesperson confirmed to The Sun Online: “Roxanne, her grandmother and mum were involved in a house fire in the middle of the night, when she was 16.
“Roxanne and her family were rescued by emergency services after being trapped in the house for a substantial amount of time.
“Roxanne suffered smoke inhalation and her mum was hospitalised for months as she lost her sight, this later returned after lengthy medical care.
“Her house was completely burnt out and Roxanne and her family lost all of their belongings”.
The traumatic event was so horrific, Roxanne couldn’t bear to smell the fires on the Island any longer and quit after sticking out five hard days on the reality show.
She wasn’t the only one to leave: conditions were so tough that Love Island’s Montana Brown and journalist Paris Lees walked off too.
Jo Wood was left as the last woman standing, alongside male contestants Martin Kemp, James Cracknell and Anthony Ogogo.
Pete Wicks also competed and told The Sun Online he’d lost a huge amount of weight.
Roxanne is currently caught up in a row in the Celebrity Big Brother house with Ryan Thomas – she claims he hit her five times while ‘play fighting’.
But Ryan has hit back and defended himself, saying he’s not a ‘bad person’.
