What has Emmerdale's James Moore said about his disability?
James has recently confessed that he didn't believe he was going to be able to make it as an actor.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun Online, the actor said: "A lot of it I think was my own personal struggle, my own mental struggle. I didn’t believe that I could do it - but it wasn't for lack of trying."
He added: "But I got into the National Youth Theatre and found my agent and it was like a steamroller from that point."
As for his recent win at the NTAs, he explained: "Honestly, it’s enough to win an NTA anyway and to have the public behind it.
"But I think this means that we’re doing great things for people with disabilities. We’re getting more diverse in society and more open and more accommodating."
Did he win an NTA?
Yes, James took home the National Television Award for Best Newcomer in 2019.
When his name was announced, he asked for a piggyback to the stage, before starting his emotion-filled speech.
He said: "Thank you so much, this means the world to me, oh my god. A year ago, I never thought I’d be here, you know what I mean?
"And for Emmerdale to take on someone with a disability shows the progression that we need in this day and age.”
