CHARLOTTE Hawkins faced up to her fear of clowns by sitting across from one on Good Morning Britain earlier today.

The TV presenter, 43, was interviewing Bibibity Bob along with her co-host Kate Garraway about whether their popularity was on the decline, when she admitted she had a phobia.

As Kate announced that clowns are being shunned in favour of film characters, a nervous-looking Charlotte admitted she "doesn't particularly like" them.

The camera then panned to Britain's Got Talent impressionist Francine Lewis who said: "I would say the majority of people and children find clowns not fun but very frightening. My daughter actually has a phobia.

"You don't see clowns anymore at parties. It's outdated and I just think let's get rid of the clowns now. Stop clowning around."

Sat next to her was Bibity Bob, who represents the world's oldest clown club Clowns International, replied: "The narrative in the press, should you believe it, is there's no work for clowns and it's old hat. But Cirque Du Soleil, one of the biggest touring global companies in the world, is the biggest entertainment production company there is."

One wrote: "I don't mind clowns, neither do both of my sons"

Another commented: "This clown is giving me life "

A third joked: " eeeerrr look at that clown sitting next to the man with a red nose"

It comes after Joe Swash and Alex Beresford couldn't stop giggling on Good Morning Britain over a Great British Bake Off contestant's 'rude' biscuit.

The show's stand-in entertainment presenter and weatherman were left in hysterics earlier today when an image flashed up of an edible self-portrait of the stay-at-home dad appearing to hold a baby - which looked more like a penis - in last night's launch episode.

Stacey Solomon's boyfriend, 36, was announcing the morning's entertainment news when a picture from last night's episode of the hit BBC show was shown on screen.

Joe asked hosts Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins: "What do you think that looks like?

Kate replied: "Err, something pink and sausage-y?"

In the background, a hysterical laugh could be heard, and the camera then panned to Alex, 37, who was failing to stifle his amusement at the funny shot.
