LIAM Gallagher’s girlfriend Debbie Gwyther has been urged to call the police after The Sun revealed footage of him grabbing her throat.

The ex-Oasis singer faces a backlash from fans over CCTV images that show Gallagher attacking Debbie, 36, at a nightclub.

Celebrities also rounded on the rocker — amid fears that Debbie may have been coerced into backing Gallagher’s claim he did nothing wrong.

We have obscured her eyes in our images to conceal her distress at the moment of the attack.

The Apprentice star Karren Brady urged Debbie to make a formal complaint to police.

She said: “These are the actions of a controlling bully.

“I was appalled when I saw the video. It looked very vicious and very intimidating.

“Debbie should make a complaint to police and shouldn’t be afraid to speak out.”

I’m A Celebrity star Nicola McLean said: “It doesn’t matter if it is Liam or Joe Blogs from next door, no-one should be laying their hands on you.

“Even if she is happy to be grabbed by the throat as we have seen in The Sun’s footage, that is still not okay.

“Liam should be seen as nothing more as an abuser. His denial makes it worse.”

The Sun’s agony aunt Deidre Saunders said: “If this is a normal exchange for them I really worry for Debbie’s safety.

“It is very sad when the victim of a controlling and even violent relationship puts their own needs and safety second to defending their abuser.

“But it happens tragically often, as police can testify.”

Feminist campaigner Aisha Ali-Khan addressed her Twitter comment to Debbie, saying: “This is not normal, loving behaviour. If Liam can do that in public, I dread to think what he’s like to you in private.”

Transgender rights campaigner Paris Lees said: “It’s horrible to see a man overpowering a woman in that way.”

TV talk show host Trisha Goddard said: “They were both obviously worse for wear but the word “loving” isn’t the first that springs to mind.”

Gallagher is believed to have returned from Paris last night with Debbie, who is his manager. He had been playing a festival there.

He rubbished The Sun’s initial story about the nightclub fracas, insisting: “I have never put my hands on any woman in a vicious manner.” She backed him, calling our story “lies.” Gallagher, 45, remained silent after we revealed the CCTV from the Chiltern Firehouse club in London.

The CCTV footage was captured earlier this month. It shows Gallagher barging his way past Debbie before turning to briefly grab her throat, causing her head to jolt back.

He then struts away down a corridor while Debbie disappears into an alcove. The footage shocked fans. Megan Chorley tweeted: “For a while I looked up to you but now I’m disgusted with your actions.

“Imagine how your mum would feel seeing that!”

In January Gallagher told in an interview how dad Tommy used to hit his mum Peggy. He said: “I was about seven when my mam left my dad. He was out all the time, fighting, beating my mam up.”

The Sun Says

LIAM Gallagher said on Saturday that he’s ‘never put his hands on any woman in a vicious manner’ and told the world that The Sun was making it all up.

So we made the decision to release the video of him grabbing his girlfriend Debbie Gwyther’s throat.

The footage, as the boss of domestic violence charity Women’s Aid put it, is shocking.

Perhaps inspired by politicians, celebrities now cry ‘fake news’ whenever newspapers dare to report on their bad behaviour, lying to the fans who have trusted and supported them.

It’s not good enough. They need to take responsibility for their actions.

We hope Ms Gwyther, and other victims of domestic abuse, get the support they need.
