Who is Luke Thompson on The Great British Bake Off 2018? Civil servant from Sheffield and techno DJ
THE Great British Bake Off has returned with a whole new group of 12 hopeful bakers looking to impress our favourite judges.
Among them was civil servant Luke Thompson, who moonlights as a house DJ. Here's everything you need to know about the likeable lad who got the boot in week two.
Who is Luke on Great British Bake Off?
Luke Thompson, 30, was one of the 12 contestants hoping to win the Great British Bake Off prize.
He's a civil servant but his secret passion is DJing to house and techno music.
But baking-wise, Luke loved making Victoria sponges, fruit cobblers and chocolate cakes as a child with his nan.
“I tend to bake most on weekends and sometimes in the week after work if I get the chance,” he said before going on the show.
Luke says his baking is inspired by morning cookery shows and his travels throughout Europe and North America.
Luke was axed from the show in week two, Cake Week.
How did Luke apply to go on the Great British Bake Off?
Luke had only started to watch Bake Off a couple of years before going on it, despite being such a lover of baking.
He says it was pressure from friends that prompted him to joining.
“People at work will have no idea,” he said.
“I sit at my desk and sometimes overhear colleagues talking about Bake Off, so it will be strange walking into the office when everyone finds out."
When is The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4?
The Great British Bake Off 2018 started on Tuesday, August 28, at 8pm on Channel 4.
It continues at the same time each Tuesday.
Last year's series was won by Sophie Faldo who was an officer in the British Army's Royal Artillery.
Presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will return as presenters, alongside judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice hosted by Jo Brand is on Fridays at 8pm on Channel 4.
