TOM Jones has made a spectacular comeback to the stage after being forced to cancel two UK shows due to illness last month.
The singer, 78, told fans "I made it" as he performed at Chester Racecourse on Sunday night.
In his first appearance since his bout of illness, Tom told the crowd: “We finally made it. Or I finally made it. We tried once before and we did not make it but we are here now. Strong.” He added: “We have had a ball up here tonight and we hope you have too.”
The star also paid tribute to his late wife Linda, who passed away from cancer at the age of 75 in 2016.
Tom said: "So I started going to dance halls. I spied a young girl there and I thought I had to get with this girl.
"So I learned to dance and we were dancing. We got close, then we got closer and then we got real close. Then we got married and stayed married for 59 years.”
It comes after Tom cancelled two gigs last month after being hospitalised with a bacterial infection.
The legendary singer was unable to perform in Chester and was forced to remain under the care of doctors.
A statement on his Twitter page on July 18 revealed the music veteran was still too poorly to play.
It explained: "It is with regret that we have to postpone Tom Jones' performance at Chester Racecouse this evening....
"Sir Tom Jones has a bacterial infection for which he is being treated in hospital.
"The condition is being well managed and we are hoping for a speedy recovery.
“He is extremely sorry and disappointed not to be able to perform tonight, and sincerely apologises for inconveniences caused to the audience and all those who are involved in the event.
