Ashes-winning England bowler Graeme Swann signs up for Strictly Come Dancing — could another cricketer win?
CRICKET star Graeme Swann has signed up for Strictly Come Dancing.
The 39-year-old spin bowler, part of England’s 2009 Ashes-winning side, follows a long line of former cricketers to compete in the BBC1 series.
Batsman Mark Ramprakash, 48, won in 2006 and fast bowler Darren Gough, 47, the year before.
Spinner Phil Tufnell, 52, took part in 2009, and ex-England captain Michael Vaughan, 43, did the same in 2012.
A show source said: “Producers love a sportsman and cricketers have a great track record.
“Though Graeme might come across as a bit awkward, they’re hoping he’s got twinkle toes like some of his predecessors.”
Father-of-two Graeme joins pop stars Ashley Roberts, 36, and Faye Tozer, 42, and newsreader Kate Silverton, 48 on the show which starts next month.
A show spokeswoman said: “We will be announcing this year’s line-up this week.”
