How did Johnny Connor buy the Rovers Return on Coronation Street?
Johnny Connor has taken control of the Rovers Return but how will he pull it off?
JOHNNY Connor has taken over the Rovers Return pub in Coronation Street with wife Jenny.
Here’s everything you need to know as the famous drinking establishment changes hands…
Why did Gemma Winter think the pub is hers?
Gemma’s recently been charmed by her ex-boyfriend Henry Newton, who convinced her that he’s bought the Rovers Return for her.
She found herself in her element in the pub, but it’s obvious that all isn’t what it seems with Henry when Chesney Brown saw him talking to a mysterious woman, promising her he will "tell Gemma" the next day.
But she was devastated when she’s all set to move in to the pub and Peter Barlow told her that Henry hasn’t signed the contract yet.
Henry then revealed he had been cut off from his parents and was, in fact, a ‘povo’ like Gemma.
So how does Johnny Connor take control of the Rovers?
Proving he’s still got an eye for a business opportunity, Johnny made Peter and Toyah a below asking price offer for the pub, leaving Jenny stunned because she doesn’t want to be running a backstreet boozer.
Peter doesn’t want to take the offer and wants to hold out for a better deal, so he told Toyah in no uncertain terms that Johnny’s offer wouldn't cut it.
But Toyah was fed up of Peter calling the shots and decided she’ldd take Johnny’s low offer, leaving Peter furious.
So what does this mean for Gemma Winter?
Sadly it means that Gemma will have to get a new dream.
But Jenny – who feels guilty about swooping in and snatching the pub from Gemma – offers her a job behind the bar.
It’s not quite the same as being the landlady, though.
