Were the Chuckle Brothers actually brothers?

Yes they were. Barry Elliot was the eldest and was born in 1944 (died aged 73) while Paul Elliot, 70 was born in 1947.

Their elder brothers Jimmy Elliot, 86, and Brian Elliot, 83, became known as the double act the Patton Brothers.

They also appeared in ChuckleVision - Jimmy as the nameless character known colloquially as "No Slacking", and Brian as another unnamed character known as "Getoutofit."

They are from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and their dad Gary was a Gang Show performer with a young Peter Sellers.

The Chuckle brothers started performing together from a young age and in 1967 won the talent show Opportunity Knocks.

By the late Seventies and early Eighties they were honing their double act and appearing on children's TV.
