Coronation Street fans heartbroken as Adam Barlow dumps Eva Price and she leaves for good

CORONATION Street viewers saw Adam Barlow dump Eva Price tonight after they returned to Weatherfield for Aidan Connor's inquest.

Adam watched Eva, played by Catherine Tyldesley, break down in tears on the stand as she confessed she wanted to get back with Shayne Ward's character before he died.

Afterwards, he (Sam Robertson) confided in Peter Barlow that he was having second thoughts about moving to France and suspected Susie's mum still loved her ex.

He told Peter: "I thought it could work, now I'm not so sure, because I've only just realised she's still in love with Aidan.

"How do you compete with a dead man? He's only going to grow more in his mind. I do love her, I do, I just don't know if she loves me as much.

Peter warned him against going to France with Eva when he said: "Just don't waste your life wishing for something you can never have, that's all."

As Eva prepares to leave with Adam, the Scottish hunk breaks the news that he's not going with her.

He says: "I can't come with you. I heard what you said in court, you didn't tell me that you wanted to get back together.

"It matters because you still want him back. I'll always think you'll compare him with us."

She begs him to change his mind and says: "What does it matter? I wouldn't, I need you. I do love you."

But his mind is made up and he says "I need you to love me as much as you love him" however Eva realises that she can't.

People at home were gripped to the emotional scenes and shared their heartbreak over the failed romance and Catherine's final scene.
