Meghan Markle’s furious first husband Trevor Engelson could dish the dirt on the Duchess, warns her estranged half-sister Samantha

MEGHAN MARKLE’s wayward family members and former friends have caused the new duchess nothing but trouble since her wedding to PRINCE HARRY.

But her first husband TREVOR ENGELSON — the one who she sent her wedding and engagement rings back to by registered post — has kept his pledge to stay quiet. For now.

However, Meghan’s estranged half-sister Samantha today claims the TV producer has expressed extreme displeasure about his ex-wife — and could still speak out.

That would heap more misery on the crisis-ridden duchess, reeling from near-constant interviews by her upset father Thomas.

Samantha tells me: “He said he was devastated, that he felt like a piece of gum at the bottom of his shoe.

"He slammed Meg.”

Trevor’s decision to stay quiet could be because of fears about a Hollywood backlash.

There are rumours Trevor’s plans for a TV comedy based on his real-life ­experiences with his former Suits star wife, who he divorced in 2013 following a two-year ­marriage, could be shelved.

Samantha explains: “I think because Meg and Harry were inviting half of Hollywood to their wedding, he didn’t want to stigmatise himself or his project knowing the political pull that it would have in the industry.

So I think at one point he thought, ‘Maybe I just better lay low.’”

The controversial comedy is about an American man having to share custody of a child with his ex-wife who has become a member of the British Royal Family.

It is being developed in the US by the Fox ­network, but there is so far no indication it will make it to screen.

Sam says: “I don’t even know if it’s going forward. We heard that execs were toying with it.

"Shared custody with the royals — that was the theme.”

But she denies the concept is offensive, adding: “I don’t think Trevor would back down on that or think it’s offensive to Meg.

"It’s not directly about her and she doesn’t have a copyright on all things royal.

“It would only offend her if Trevor shares personal details that were put into character or scripted.”

But those scripts might be the only way the world gets to hear why Meghan really left Trevor “devastated”.
