Who is Maureen Lipman?

MAUREEN Lipman is a well known face on British TV and on the big screen thanks to her long career as an actress.

These days she is known for Coronation Street, but actually started out as a Shakespearean actress.

Who is Maureen Lipman and who did she play in Coronation Street?

Maureen is a 75-year-old English actress who was born May 10, 1946.

She trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and her stage work has included appearances with the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Maureen was made a Dame in the 2020 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to charity, entertainment and the arts.

In 2018 Maureen joined the cast of Coronation Street.

The legendary actress played Tyrone Dobbs' grandma Evelyn Plummer.

It wasn't her first time treading the Corrie cobbles - she played snooty landlady Lillian Spencer back in 2002.

What other TV shows and films is Maureen Lipman known for?

Maureen is best known for her roles in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist, Educating Rita and Oklahoma.

She's also starred in TV shows such as All at Number 20, The Fugitives and Plebs.

But she became a household name after playing Beatie in the 1980s BT adverts.

In 2022 she was on the box on ITV's DNA Journey.

Is Maureen Lipman married and does she have children?

Maureen married English playwright Jack Rosenthal in 1974.

He sadly passed away in 2004.

They had two children together - writers Amy and Adam Rosenthal.

Jack actually used to be a writer for Coronation Street and wrote over a hundred early episodes of the soap.
