EMMERDALE fans were horrified this evening as Ross Barton relapsed and snorted cocaine.

The dad-of-one took the substance just weeks after managing to overcome an addiction to prescription drugs.

After selling on some stolen vintage cars during the second part of tonight’s double bill, Ross was offered Class A drugs rather than a cash payment.

However he appeared to resist, despite the dodgy bloke telling him the drugs were definitely taking.

Ross made a joke and appeared to just take the cash from the man before heading home.

However, once back in his house, Ross was then seen rifling through the envelope before pulling out a small bag which contained a white powder.

Viewers were horrified and begged Ross not to take the drugs.

However their worst fears were realised at the end of the episode, as he was seen sniffing and rubbing his nose.

Walking into the kitchen, he told Pete and Rhona he was feeling better than ever.

Manically, he then shouted: “The old Ross is back!”

Although Pete and Rhona looked a bit puzzled by his behaviour, it seemed neither had twigged that he was on drugs.

One upset fan tweeted: “I knew when Ross was looking at them drugs that he would end up coming home with some.

“He’s going to end up becoming a drug addict now. Not happy about this.”

Another asked: “What are you doing Ross? You know what happened to your cousin!”

While a third warned: “Why do I get the horrible feeling Ross' exit will involve an overdose?”

Ross, played by Michael Parr, is departing the ITV soap later this year and it’s possible his descent into addiction could make up part of his exit storyline.

Bosses have so far stayed tight lipped about how he will leave the dales however.

Emmerdale continues tomorrow night at 7pm on ITV.
