Who is Peter Dean?
Peter Dean was born May 2, 1939, in Hoxton, London.
The 79-year-old was recommended a career in acting after Fawlty Towers star Prunella Scales witnessed him prepare for a production of Shakespeare.
His breakout performance was playing criminal 'Jack Lynn' in Law And Order and he has also starred in Doctor Who, The Bill, and had a small role in Coronation Street.
He has one child, Leah, with ex-wife Slyvia Jones and is a practising Buddhist.
When was he on EastEnders?
Pete Beale was one of the original twenty-three characters created for EastEnders and Peter featured in the first ever episode back in 1985.
For eight years Pete served as Walford's resident local fruit and veg trader, a job famously inherited by his son Ian.
During his time on the soap, the macho man clashed with his ex-wife Pat, dealt with the uncertain paternity of her sons David and Simon and his marriage to Kathy broke down.
He departed the soap in 1993 alongside childhood sweetheart Rose but the couple was later killed in an offscreen car accident on the same day as the birth of his grandchildren Lucy and Peter.
