CORONATION Street has revealed how it made Jack Webster's amputation look so realistic.

Viewers were stunned by the scenes as Jack's stump was revealed as he got himself off his hospital bed and into his wheelchair.

Young Jack lost his foot after contracting sepsis and having to have a below the knee amputation.

And fans couldn't believe what they were seeing as his amputation was laid bare in the episodes.

Some viewers even had to check that the actor who plays Jack hadn't actually had his foot amputated in real life.

One wrote: "Wondered how it was done so he hasn't lost his leg in real life it's basically just been edited out to look like that."

A second said: ";I thought maybe there was a hole in the bed where the rest of his leg was cleverly hidden by sheets but when he got into the wheelchair I was totally flummoxed !!! well done corrie."

A third added: "I have worked in SFX for TV and Film and after last nights episode I was certain the young amazing actor who plays Jack was a real amputee patient!

"This is mind-blowing! Loved to have worked on this! Xx"

Another commented: "I was talking about Jack this morning i thought hed had a false leg all his life and chose to do this storyline and show off he fact he had 1 leg. Technology these days amazing."

Now Coronation Street has revealed how the impressive feat was performed.

The soap used Hollywood style green-screen technology to digitally erase Jack's lower leg with the use of a special sock.

A video showing the before and after process was posted on the soap's Facebook page.
