GOOD Morning Britain host Kate Garraway demanded a kids' entertainer remove his "racist" black puppet on the show today.

Piers Morgan's stand-in and co-host Charlotte Hawkins interviewed a puppeteer performer and asked if Punch and Judy shows should be banned because they portray domestic violence.

Kids performer Bryan Llewellyn held up the black doll that looked similar to an old fashioned minstrel puppet and fellow guest Trisha Goddard said it was not acceptable.

Kate, 51, became more and more agitated and said it made her feel "uncomfortable" before telling him to put it away because "it shouldn't be on here".

Stopping the debate in its tracks, she said: "That's really offensive by the way, that puppet."

Bryan tried to defend the doll and said: "You think that but it's been a character since 1662."

Trisha didn't accept the explanation and replied: "So were the black and white minstrels."

Brian explained that he doesn't see the puppet as a minstrel but as a black singer.

Incensed Kate said: "Well it came from conceptions at the time that we now feel are racist and many people all the way through. That's why it's changed."

However, people at home were unsure how to feel about the debate.

One person said: "Uncomfortable because there is a black puppet and an outrage if there wasn’t a black puppet.

"That guy couldn’t have won today. I personally think rubbish stories like this does no good to help abuse or racism."

GMB fans were begging for Piers to return from his holiday early after a series of "pathetic" segments today.

Viewers blasted the show's lack of bite as stand-ins after they also interviewed former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

Fans were baffled when the hosts asked Spicer if he'd ever touched US President Donald Trump's hair.

The slim pickings and lack of lighthearted debate didn't go down well with viewers.

They took to Twitter in their droves and pleaded with  Piers, 53, to return from his summer break.
