Boxer Amir Khan admits ‘I have made mistakes’ over his troubled marriage to Faryal Makhdoom
The boxer has told The Sun on Sunday that he's trying to be a better person and do everything for his family
LOVE RAT boxer Amir Khan has come out fighting over the state of his troubled marriage, admitting: “I have made mistakes.”
The 31-year-old Olympic silver medallist spoke out about his relationship with wife Faryal Makhdoom, just weeks after being caught in another cheating scandal.
In May The Sun On Sunday revealed how the Bolton-born brawler slept with a beautician just 17 days after the arrival of his second child.
But Amir attended a sports awards show in Los Angeles this week with his long-suffering wife firmly by his side, despite the cheating allegations.
Talking exclusively to The Sun On Sunday, a fired-up Amir said: “Everything I do in life is for my family. That’s what I believe.
“I believe that God put me here for a purpose to support my family, be there for my family and be like a role model to them.
“I made mistakes in the past couple of months. I’ve made mistakes in my life.
"Everyone makes mistakes. It’s just my mistakes get blown out of proportion.
“I’ve said silly things, which I probably didn’t mean to and didn’t think they were going to get that big.
"But you know what? These are learning curves for me.
“It has only made me a stronger person and a better person, knowing what’s right and what’s wrong.”
Just two months ago we told how former model Faryal, 26, confronted Sophia Hammani after discovering her number on the I’m A Celebrity star’s phone.
Beautician Sophia, 22, admitted she had spent the night with the sleazy boxer in his hotel room after they met at a London club on May 11.
And she said the former World Champion, worth £23million, left her just £20 for a cab to her home, eight miles away on the opposite side of London.
Sophia blasted: “He’s disgusting. He slept with me and his wife had just given birth. I nearly threw up when I saw they were still together. I felt so used.”
Faryal had announced she was pregnant with their second child just weeks after she briefly split with the fighter last summer.
He had falsely accused her of an affair with fellow boxer Anthony Joshua.
They reunited in time for Amir’s I’m A Celeb stint.
But we told in November last year how he had begged single mum Emma Bond, 27, for sex days before announcing he was back with his wife.
In January model Emma claimed she had a tryst with Amir, after he messaged her following an appearance on Good Morning Britain – where he told viewers he was a changed man.
And days after he was caught cheating with Sophia in May, the shameless boxer was spotted on celebrity dating app Raya.
However, as Amir spoke to The Sun On Sunday at the ESPY sports awards on Wednesday, a supportive Faryal, wearing a plunging leather zipper mini dress, held his hand and arm as support.
The sports star moaned that his treatment in the public eye had been unfair.
Speaking at the LA Staples Center, he said: “A lot of stuff happens and it’s not fair. So I just turn a blind eye to it. I never let it get to me. I just thank God for putting me in the position I am.
“I’m a well-known fighter and I’m a successful boxer, so I just want to be happy doing that. All of the media around it, I’m not a celebrity, I’m a normal guy, and I just want to be known as that.
“I’m not one of those guys who likes to go back suing this guy and suing that guy. They all just talk. 90 per cent of it is wrong, but I never let it get to me.
“The people out there know what the truth is.”
Last winter he appeared on I’m A Celebrity, becoming the seventh evictee.
He felt that the ITV series presented him to the UK public as his real self.

Amir added: “I gained a lot. I got people to see the real side of me. People know I’m scared of animals. I am a normal guy. I’m a guy who likes to give.
“I’m a caring person, so people can see the real side of me - otherwise it would be really hard for people to know who I am.”
Amir is relocating to LA for a training camp as he prepares for his fight with Colombian Samuel Vargas on September 8 in Birmingham.
