Great British Bake Off tries to woo ‘snowflake’ Millennials with vegan challenge thought up by Noel Fielding

Show producers jumped at the chance to appeal to younger viewers after wacky co-host Noel Fielding suggested contestants try cooking without dairy products

THE Great British Bake Off will have its first ever vegan week — thanks to wacky co-host Noel Fielding.

Comic Noel, 45, suggested the daring idea to woo a millennial “snowflake” audience.

Contestants will have to prepare goodies from a recipe free of animal products.

Out will go dairy products such as eggs and cream cheese — and in will come ingredients such as  kale.

A source on the Channel 4 show said: “When Noel put forward the idea producers leapt at the chance to try something different — especially as they think it’ll appeal to younger viewers.

“While the show has a loyal fanbase, those in charge are keen to snap up a different demographic.”

The series has traditionally had weeks dedicated to favourites like bread, biscuits, pudding and cakes.

Last year Noel revealed he was ditching cakes to shed weight for a role as rocker Alice Cooper.

But he insisted: “It’s not that I don’t like cake — I have a very sweet tooth.”

The new series starts later this year.

EGGS, butter, cream, milk — it reads like a murderer’s hitlist.

Eating animal products is slaughter, even if they don’t die.

I applaud Noel. More and more of us Millennials are turning vegan.
