Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is cheesy and decidedly average — but the tunes and positivity are irresistible
Some scenes are absolutely baffling and the song links are tenuous at best but by the end most audiences will be screaming for more
SERIOUSLY folks, the musical has been around for longer than most of your kids and the first film is a decade old.
If you don’t know whether you’ll like this or not then no review from me will save you.
It’s cheesy and decidedly average — but no one will care as long as there is music to sing to and a threadbare love story to sigh with and the ABBA juggernaut continues to churn out dollar bills (the first film made $600million).
This one tells the story of how young Donna (Lily James) came to meet, hook up with and fall pregnant by one of the three handsome devils.
Meanwhile, fast-forwarding a few decades and Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is opening a restaurant on the Greek island discovered by her mum.
The song links are tenuous at best, it occasionally struggles to get its head around a plot based on three random holiday quickies and some appearances are baffling.

But there are also some proper belly laughs, Lily James is incredible, the tunes and positivity are irresistible and by the end the audience were SCREAMING for more.
Here we go again? Oh go on then.
