There's also been outrage on Twitter after Taylor Swift has been overlooked in the major categories

ARIANA Grande, Drake and Camila Cabello will all battle it out for the top prize at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards – but Taylor Swift fans are gutted she’s been snubbed.

In a star-studded Video of the Year category Ariana’s No Tears Left To Cry is up against Camila’s Havana, Drake’s God’s Plan, Bruno Mars’s Finesse, Childish Gambino’s This Is America and The Carters’ APES**T.

Unsurprisingly the Artist of the Year category is packed with artists also up for the best video gong.

The omission of Taylor’s Look What You Made Me Do video has sent Twitter into meltdown.

They wrote: “The facts that @MTV @vmas snubbed @taylorswift13 for everything she has done in the past year saying they only care about their rating.

“LWYMMD by Taylor Swift is one of the best music videos last year. I don’t know why the @vmas didn’t include this video for Video of The Year. #shedeservesit.

Drakes had a big year and a VMA would top it off nicely

“Taylor Swift….oh wait….she was SNUBBED.

“So Taylor Swift really outsold all the artist that are up for the artist of the year, came out with a single that debuted at number 1 and stayed there for four weeks to be snubbed by mtv #vmas, Camilla literally only has one hit but okay sure artist of the year or whatever.

“So…….Taylor Swift is literally not nominated for anything big at the #VMAs? Dear MTV, ya better start talking. @MTV.”

It’s not been the best period of time for Taylor after she got stuck in a cage during her gig in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

The singer – who’s currently on her Reputation world tour – was performing in front of thousands of fans when she unexpectedly became suspended mid-air in her basket, according to .

It all happened after she belted out her smash hit song, Delicate.

The sparkly basket that was supposed to carry her across the stadium ended up malfunctioning – and Taylor didn’t play the situation down, happily letting the audience know things were going wrong.

She explained to the crowd that the production team were having technical difficulties, and the crew were trying to figure out what’s wrong and fix the issue.

She said: “I’m pretty sure I’m stuck up here. It’s a nice view, though.

“So what you just saw was me going like straight up and down in this sparkly basket.

“It’s supposed to take me to the other side of the stadium.

“So what happens now is basically I’m just chilling waiting to figure out what happens next.”

While waiting for the issue to be fixed, Taylor sang an a capella version of her 2007 track Our Song.

Taylor eventually got into another cage, which took her across the venue as originally planned.

Taylor’s gig nightmare comes after it was revealed her tour has so many empty seats her team have been forced to hand out free tickets.

In June, representatives from the tour were said to be dishing out free tickets worth over £100 so that the stadiums didn’t look empty.

It follows woeful sales of her sixth album Reputation — filled with songs about revenge and settling scores with her various exes and showbiz enemies — which has sold just 301,000 copies in the UK since its release last November.
