Kym made the comments in her after her Corrie co-star Bill Roache opened up about his spirituality.

The 41-year-old said: “I know Bill gets a lot of comfort from it.  I don’t have a strong belief in an organised religion but I do believe there’s a higher power that I often refer to as God.

“When I think of my late son Archie, I like to think his spirit is around me and when anyone’s going through anything tough, like a procedure in hospital, I do say to them: ‘I’ll get Archie to go and sit on your shoulder.’

“A lot of people take comfort in thinking there’s something out there and I understand why, especially when you’re dealing with the loss of a child.”

Kym has made sure her family do not forget Archie and earlier this year she paid tribute to her little boy on what would have been his ninth birthday.

Posting a picture of her shrine to Archie, Kym said: “9 years ago today our lives changed forever. Our hearts will never heal and our tears will always fall because we miss you so much.

“I am so proud to have been your mummy. I wish we were having a party today with balloons and presents.

“I wish I had got to see your smile and hold your hand.

“I wish I could kiss your face and hug you tightly. I wish I had heard your voice. I wish I had been able to pick you up when you had fallen, put plasters on your knees, dry your tears.

“I wish I wish I wish you were here. You are always in our hearts my beautiful boy. Happy birthday. We miss you and love you so very much. Have fun up there today little one Mummy loves you…”

Kym - who also mum to older children Emily and David and Polly, six, whom she shares with Jamie Lomas - previously told The Sun On Sunday how she was “utterly lost” by Archie's death.
