Lisa Riley admits she’s terrified of dying but hasn’t had the cancer gene test – despite losing four family members to the disease
LISA Riley has revealed she’s hasn’t had the cancer gene test, despite being fearful of dying.
The 42-year-old has lost her grandad, two grandmothers and her mum to cancer - leaving her concerned she too might carry the gene.
But the actress has decided not to undergo tests because she wants to just live her life.
She told : “I haven't had the test. I can't live my life waiting for cancer to hit me. My mum didn't know, my granny didn't know, none of them knew.
“But I am fearful. I have loads of extra checks now. The doctors are all over me! And I encourage women to check themselves.”
The star added: “Never feel like you're wasting a doctor's time. Just don't consult Doctor Google. That will have you dead and buried.”
Lisa’s mum passed away in 2012 after battling with cancer since 2000 and the star admits she still struggles with the loss.
She said recently: “I remember someone saying to me, ‘One day your mum is going to be gone, and then who’s going to help you?’ because me and my mum were thick as thieves.
“We spoke all day every day and she advised me on everything. We were glued at the hip. I just thought, ‘Oh, don’t be ridiculous!’ But now I wish I’d listened.
